Scania has announced a line of eco-friendly trucksAugust 25, 2018
In honor of winning the competition of the most environmentally-friendly commercial vehicles, Scania has announced a line of special versions aimed at maximum harmlessness to the environment.
On the eve of a number of European competitions to identify the best trucks in several categories. In addition to many well-known competitions “Truck of the Year” and “Van of the Year” many other competitions and nominations are still held. For example, on the eve of the company Scania won the title as the most environmentally friendly cars, according to the German edition of VerkehrsRundschau and Trucker. In honor of this victory a special series appeared.
Separately note that in this competition the participants are 40-ton tractors, which pass a number of tests on public roads in Munich and the Nurburgring. As you can see from the title – the winner is determined by the fuel economy, as well as the emission of harmful substances in the exhaust. Therefore it is not surprising that trucks from Scania with a new 13-liter engine became the winner. At 350 km of test run, the average flow rate was 24.92 liters per 100 km at an average speed of 80 km/h. Emissions of CO2 were 791 g/km.
The special version will not differ in technical terms from the original. As a “feature”, it will get a green color, hinting at environmental friendliness, as well as an inscription on the cabin “Green Truck Award 2018”. The circulation will not be limited by quantity, but production will be completed before the contest begins next year.
The model will be equipped with a similar test sample with a 13-liter engine, capable of developing up to 450 and 500 horsepower depending on the modification. The tractor can carry trailers with a mass of up to 40 000 kg, and the cabin has all the necessary elements for the trucker’s work. The cost of the special version is not yet reported, it is likely that it will not differ from the standard version, or will attract customers through additional options.
Will the trucks from the “green” line is still unknown.
Also recall that last year the company Scania was fined by the antimonopoly committee in the framework of the revealed cartel collusion allowing to regulate the prices of cars in the European market.
