Sales of Porsche Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder with PDK Robot Launch This YearFebruary 13, 2020
It is reported that soon there will be on sale versions of the sports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Boxster Spyder, which will be equipped with PDK robotic gearboxes with double clutch. Robot will help improve the dynamic characteristics of cars.
The current versions of the German sports coupe Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder are sold exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, and for a long time it was believed that the situation with this will not change. But no, Porsche’s management, unexpectedly for everyone, decided to make its PDK robotic transmission a more affordable option and install it in the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder to increase the popularity of the two hardcore sports coupe options.
The prices for the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder equipped with the PDK box are still unknown. It is only reported that both cars with a “robot” will appear on the market before the end of the year.
With a powerful 4.0-liter turbo engine rated at 414 hp (420 Nm) and a manual gearbox, which is installed in both the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder, acceleration to 100 km / h takes only 4.4 seconds. Moreover, the maximum speed for Boxster Spyder is 301 km / h, while the Cayman GT4 boasts 304 km / h. It is reasonable to assume that with a robotic PDK dual-clutch transmission, cars will be able to show better dynamic performance.
