Recall that taking orders for new liftback and Volkswagen Arteon station wagon with the R prefix started at the end of 2020. The new Arteon is equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine of the EA888 evo4 family, which is located in the engine compartment of the “charged” Tiguan R crossover. The power plant provides 320 hp. power and 450 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed proprietary DSG-7 transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive system. For such cars, acceleration to 100 km / h takes only 4.9 seconds, and the maximum speed is 250 km / h, but for a surcharge, the limiter can be shifted to 270 km / h.
Standard on the R-versions of the Arteon are a rear differential with traction vectoring, like the Golf R, imitation locking on the front axle XDS, a mode switch with Race profile, electronically controlled DCC dampers and progressive steering. In addition to this, there are adaptive cruise control, LED headlights with automatic high-beam control and an electric tailgate.
Externally, the new items differ from the standard Arteon model in other bumpers with a sporty look and with a diffuser at the rear, matte chrome side mirror housings and an exhaust system with trapezoidal tailpipes. Inside the cars, blue stitching appeared on the seats, steering wheel, armrests, decorative inserts and logos with the letter “R”.
