Saleen GT4 Concept debuts as a race carOctober 20, 2019
After the homologation process, its price is expected to be $ 225,000
After the news that the Saleen 1 supercar left us in 2017, Saleen Automotive introduced a new concept car that is supposed to be participating internationally in GT4 races. Named racing, the new Saleen GT4 Concept is designed to revive Saleen’s reputation in GT racing.
The Saleen GT4 concept is largely based on the road Saleen 1, although the company has given it certain updates to meet the specifications of the GT4 series. First, the GT4 Concept gets a new front splitter and wings, as well as an improved rear diffuser to improve aerodynamics. A large rear wing has been added for maximum downforce and traction. The GT4 concept car also has front and rear anti-lock braking systems and other special equipment for the GT4.
Behind the two seats of the track-only concept is the same 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 450 horsepower and 474 Nm of torque. The model also received a lightweight chassis and carbon fiber body, which determine the characteristics of the Saleen 1 supercar.
“We designed Saleen 1 to be fully capable on the track and easily adapt to racing applications,” said Steve Salen, CEO and founder of Saleen Automotive. “Our company was based on racing DNA, and the track is the place where we confirm our reputation. We look forward to the completion of the homologation process with SRO and see how these cars will compete in GT4 competitions around the world. ”
The mid-engined Saleen GT4 racecar is currently completing the SRO homologation process, and after that its expected price should be $ 225,000 per instance.
