Sainz: In the final session I drove a great lapOctober 13, 2019
In Suzuka, McLaren racers start from the seventh and eighth positions, but evaluate their performances differently.
Carlos Sainz (7th): “We did a great job and made progress along the course of the qualification, and in the final I drove a great circle. The whole weekend I’m comfortable driving, it helps in such a strong wind. Now I’m getting ready for the race – I hope everything goes smoothly, and we will move on. ”
Lando Norris (8th): “I am a little upset by the qualifications, because in the final session I did not drive a very good circle. This often happens. Before that, everything was going well, and everything suited me. In my opinion, we have made progress in working with the machine, and I began to better cope with some points. Everything went well until the last chicane, I played a little bit of time, but then I ruined my circle myself.
Of course, the main thing is the race, but you always want to drive a good lap in qualifications. Now I will start behind Carlos, but ahead of the rest of the teams in the middle of the peloton. I doubt that we could achieve a higher result. But I am dissatisfied with myself: I constantly make small mistakes, due to which I eventually lose my position, and Carlos almost always comes first. It’s a little annoying, so we must continue to work.
