SAIC published official images of the Maxus pickup truckMay 29, 2020
Chinese concern SAIC has published a teaser image of the new pickup truck, which will be launched under the Maxus brand – a brand engaged in the production of crossovers and pickups.
At present, the Chinese automaker is not publishing detailed information about its new product. The new pickup is referred to as Maxus V on social networks in China, and will debut in the second half of 2020. Maxus is also known under the LDV brand in some markets such as Australia, and perhaps the Maxus V will succeed the current T60 pickup.
However, although we do not have official data, AutoTimesNews reports that the Maxus V will be either hybrid or fully electric. This would be in line with the company’s intention to launch 20 new environmentally friendly models, including electric cars and hybrids, by 2025. One of the possible development scenarios could be the borrowing of the power plant from the Euniq 6, which has an electric motor for 174 hp. and 310 Nm of torque.
From a visual point of view, the concept looks quite striking and certainly more attractive than the current LDV T60. A large Maxus icon is visible in front, as well as a convex grille and a pair of thin LED headlights. We also see sports arches of the front and rear wheels, as well as thin side mirrors. Side windows are also narrow enough for a pickup of this size.
