SAIC launches a new electric van for the commercial segmentDecember 31, 2018
Already in the middle of 2019, a new medium-tonnage commercial vehicle equipped with an all-electric installation will be on sale. The new model from SAIC will be presented in several versions with a range of up to 300 km.
Electric cars are becoming an integral part of the Chinese car market. Today, approximately 51% of all world sales of electric cars and plug-in hybrids fall on the Middle Kingdom. Local brands and corporations are actively developing the electric vehicle segment and SAIC is ready to launch a new EV30 van to the market.
Despite the fact that the sale of the car will appear in the middle of January 2019, while the manufacturer does not disclose details of the power plant, as well as the battery capacity. However, the press service has already said that the light commercial van will be offered in several versions with a maximum range of a full charge of up to 300 km.
A feature of the model will be the basis of a new line of electric cars built on a completely new platform, probably with ample opportunities for modular modification. In addition, the car has a fully aluminum body, which allows it to significantly reduce weight and increase reliability.
Unfortunately, the cost of the model has not yet been reported, but it is not so interesting to us – SAIC EV30 is unlikely to go beyond China in the foreseeable future.
In the meantime, SAIC decided on the date of commencement of sales for its low-cost minivan Maxus G50. It is planned that the first commodity cars will fall into the hands of buyers in February.
