Royal Queen Cars – Freddie Mercury CollectionDecember 29, 2019
The vocalist of one of the greatest rock bands drove exclusively on status cars.
The autocollection of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of The Queen group, is distinguished by the same charisma, eclecticism and extravagance as its owner.
Daimler Limousine DS420
When Freddy bought this car, he didn’t even have a driver’s license. Therefore, the musician did not drive, but used the services of a driver. This limousine, without reservation, is a royal car, since the model was very popular among European aristocrats, including ruling families.
Lincoln Town Car
A sedan designed for stylish and comfortable trips. Freddy used the car for everyday trips during visits to New York. He bought it specifically so as not to rent cars.
Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow
One of the Rolls-Royce models that caught Freddy’s attention was the Silver Shadow. He owned this car until 1991. That is, almost until death. Freddie chose a model with a gray interior decorated with wood, and the main attractions of the car were a cassette audio system and a telephone.
Range Rover Convertible
One of the most unusual cars in Freddy’s collection was the Range Rover convertible, which is more suitable for adventure. The car, equipped with a powerful V8 engine, belonged to Spinney Music, which was part of Mercury. He was also used by Queen band manager Jim Beach.
This is one of Freddie’s favorite cars that he used every day since 1986. Sold a few years after the death of a musician (in 1996), the car was in the hands of a careless person who did not take care of the car properly and left it to rot in the open. But there was a man who dug a car that had sunk into the ground and restored it.
