Rolls-Royce unveils new Ghost headlightsAugust 31, 2020
The new generation sedan will receive laser optics
Rolls-Royce has published short videos showing the headlights and silhouette of the second-generation Ghost luxury sedan. The premiere of the novelty will take place on September 1 online.
The Rolls-Royce Ghost will be equipped with laser-assisted lighting, which will debut a technology called Brilliance. The company says it will allow the sedan’s headlights to illuminate the road 600 meters ahead – twice the range of LED headlights.
On the eve of the premiere of the model, Rolls-Royce again showed the silhouette of the Ghost, and this time not in the form of a laconic sketch. In a new two-minute video, the body of the sedan and the “Spirit of Ecstasy” statuette on the hood are outlined by a translucent flowing fabric.
Previously, Rolls-Royce said that the new Ghost will be built practically from scratch. The car will “move” to a new platform, receive a “smart” Planar suspension and a transmission that independently chooses the optimal transmission based on data from satellites and cameras.
Thanks to special materials and checking all the details for acoustic properties, the sedan’s interior was almost completely protected from extraneous sounds. So that the silence does not disorient the driver and passengers, Ghost was taught to generate a special sound – the so-called “whisper”.
In addition, a new air purification system with a nanofleece filter with fibers with a diameter of 120 to 150 nanometers is installed in the cabin, instead of 500, as in conventional filter elements. Interior cleaning, which takes no more than two minutes, can be started from a smartphone.
