Rolls-Royce Showcases Exclusive Phantom Crystal PaintDecember 3, 2019
Rolls-Royce introduced a design variation of the top-end Phantom with Magma Red’s unique crystalline color.
In order to achieve a shade depth and create a glow effect, the sedan body was painted in 5 layers with a special varnish with particles of crystal. Each layer was polished manually over 5 hours.
The special Phantom was developed by the British design bureau Bespoke Collective. In addition to the unusual exterior, the sedan created in a single copy is distinguished by a manually designed interior, which was sewn from 9 different types of leather. A special touch – wooden elements of the interior covered with 6 layers of varnish.
To contrast with the seats and door cards of the “Arctic white” color shade, the steering wheel rim and the surface of the steering column switches are covered with red leather. The keychain is also framed in scarlet, engraving the Rolls-Royce emblems on the head restraints and the fringing of the rear seats. The effect of the starry sky is achieved thanks to 1600 red LEDs on the ceiling.
The exclusive Phantom is based on the eighth-generation left-hand drive short-drive sedan. Under the hood, nothing has changed: the model is still equipped with a 6.75-liter V12 engine with a capacity of 571 hp. and 900 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with rear-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car to the first 100 kph accelerates in 5.3 seconds.
The cost of the special version will be determined at RM Sotheby’s online auction, which will be held from December 4 to 13. According to assumptions, Phantom Magma Red will be able to sell much more expensive than a simple variation. All proceeds will be transferred to the account of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.
