Rolls-Royce Phantom c eye sold for 888 thousand poundsSeptember 28, 2019
Rolls-Royce managed to sell the art version of the Phantom sedan for 888 thousand pounds. The car is painted by the British artist and sculptor Mark Quinn: the picture on the body is the iris of the human eye.
The name of the buyer Rolls-Royce does not name, but indicates that it is a long-standing and revered collector of cars of the British brand. The “Phantom” that he acquired was created in collaboration with the artist Mark Quinn and is decorated with a pattern in the form of an iris, but enlarged several times. The project was inspired by a series of works by Quinn We Share Our Chemistry with the Stars with irises of celebrities.
The winner of the auction was pleased with Quinn’s work and ordered a second car for him – this time the livery of the sedan will be based on the color of the iris of the customer’s eldest daughter.
At the beginning of this year, a British businessman of Indian origin, Reuben Singh, bought six cars from Rolls-Road at once – three Phantom sedans and three Cullinan SUVs. A special order collection was dedicated to precious stones: ruby, emerald and sapphire.
