Roewe Introduces New Ei6 Electric SedanMarch 19, 2020
Roewe, part of the Chinese giant SAIC Motor, has added a new all-electric sedan to its lineup: the Ei6.
In 2016, the Chinese Roewe introduced the i6, based on the design of the Vision R concept sedan, which replaced the 550 Rover 75. Like the 550, Roewe developed the i6 plug-in hybrid, the Ei6 Plus, which has a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. Together with the electric motor, the power of the entire system reaches 350 hp. and 480 Nm. This Ei6 Plus is now joined by an all-electric brother, simply called Ei6.
The Ei6, like the i6 on which it is based, is a 4.72 meter long sedan with a 2.72 meter wheelbase. Such dimensions make the car a little shorter than models such as the Volkswagen Passat, Ford Mondeo and Mazda 6. Outside, the electric Roewe is different from the i6. However, more interesting, of course, is what is under the hood of the Ei6.
Roewe keeps secret the exact capacity of the lithium-ion battery, but, nevertheless, the company claims that the NEDC Ei6 cycle must cover 605 kilometers on a single charge. It is also known that the electric motor, which drives the front wheels, develops power of 184 hp. and 258 Nm of torque.
The Roewe Ei6 was due to debut in April at the Beijing Motor Show, but with the postponement of this car show until further notice, the electric car, including all official information, will be presented later.
