Rivian R1T and R1S shipments postponed due to coronavirusJuly 25, 2020
It’s been roughly two years since Rivian unveiled the R1T pickup and the R1S crossover at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.
the release of the aforementioned models has been delayed by about six months. Rivian also announced the readiness of a pilot production line in Illinois. And, according to company representatives, the launch of a pilot production will allow to more accurately determine the delivery time. According to the current plan, deliveries of R1T will begin in June 2021, and R1S – in August of the same year.
It is worth saying that initially the release of the models was scheduled for the end of this year, but the coronavirus pandemic prevented this from happening. In turn, the American company said that in the near future they will share new details about the R1T and R1S.
Recall that the Rivian pickup and crossover, which will have four electric motors, will be offered with 105, 135 and 180 kWh batteries. And the performance of the power units will be 402, 700 and 754 hp.
The cost of the R1T pickup will start at $ 69,000, and the R1S cross – from $ 72,500. At the same time, everyone can already pre-order new items by paying a deposit of $ 1000
In addition, it was recently noted that the Rivian R1T electric pickup truck was tested in the desert. The tests were carried out in Arizona, USA. During the tests, a representative of the so-called EAV (Electric Adventure Vehicle) or “electric travel vehicle” class was seen.
