Rivian R1S will be the basis for the Pininfarina crossoverDecember 10, 2018
American technology will be the basis of the Italian car, which should become a worthy competitor to the Lamborghini Urus crossover. Electric power plant will be borrowed from the Croatian company Rimac.
The guys from the company Rivian hit the world when they were shown an electric truck and a crossover at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Now the news has come that the American company can unite with the Italian design studio Pininfarina, which is widely known for its projects to change the appearance of cars. Converted exteriors have affected the automotive public for many decades.
Apparently, the overall model will be the all-electric crossover Rivian R1S, which by the designation of the Italian company will be called PF1.
Note that the Pininfarina brand is owned by the Indian company Mahindra. The power unit for their “firstborn” from the SUV segment, the guys from Pininfarina will take from the Croatian company Rimac Automobili, and the platform called “skateboard platform” will be borrowed from the American crossover Rivian R1S.
In the meantime, the guys from Pininfarina will be busy developing the exterior / interior design for “their” electric crossover. According to company representatives, work on the crossover is in full swing, and the design is almost approved.
Insiders report that the Italian novelty with American and Croatian parts can be equipped with a 135 kWh battery, as well as an electric power unit consisting of four motors, the total power of which will lie within an impressive 1000 hp. It is also worth noting the presence of a 800-volt charging system, as well as huge wheels with a dimension of 24 inches.
