Rivian engineers set to test the R1T electric pickupMarch 11, 2019
It is noteworthy that at first glance it is nothing more than a plug-in hybrid version of another American Ford F-150 pickup truck, although in reality it is an electric Rivian R1T.
If you have already noticed that this version of the full-size pickup Ford F-150, captured in the “spy” picture, looks a bit strange, you can be called an observant person. The fact is that this is not a Ford at all – only the “outer shell” was taken from this car. In fact, this is a fully electric truck Rivian R1T.
Tricky move – under the body of a pickup Ford F-150 hiding components and assemblies Rivian R1T. Apparently, dozens of such trucks are being tested in Detroit and its surroundings – it was there that an unusual version of the Ford F-150 was seen.
Rivian chose the F-150, because this car is the best-selling truck in the United States, and there are a lot of such cars. And since the F-150 is quite common on US public roads, very few people can be suspicious about this car. This makes it the perfect donor vehicle for testing the upcoming Rivian R1T in the real world.
Photos of the disguised R1T were taken while it was being charged at one of the roadside stations. Then the electric car again went to the off-road test.
Not so long ago, we also saw the plug-in hybrid version of the full-size Ford F-150 pickup – yes, yes, the leadership of the largest American brand has plans to create a more environmentally friendly modification of its hit.
Not so long ago, we wrote that the patent images of the Rivian R1T electric pickup appeared on the Web.
