Rinspeed unveiled drone with replaceable bodiesDecember 7, 2017
The public premiere of the new concept of the Swiss company will take place in the exhibition of consumer electronics CES in Las Vegas, which will open in January 2018.
The unmanned prototype was called Snap, it consists of a Skateboard platform with a full-mounted chassis and a Pod module. The length of the concept is 4,685 mm, width – 1,960 mm, height – 1,842 mm, wheelbase – 3,250 mm. The novelty weighs about 1,700 kg.
The main idea of Frank Rinderknecht, the founder and head of Rinspeed, is that both components – the platform and the capsule – can be improved independently of each other. If the chassis becomes obsolete, it will be replaced with a more current version, while the module will last longer. The Pod capsule has retractable supports, it can be not only passenger, but also cargo, in the form of a mobile office, a camper or a shop.
Rinspeed Snap is equipped with a ZF electric motor from 38 to 69 hp and batteries with a capacity of 12 kWh. The power reserve is only 100 km, the maximum speed is about 80 km/h.
The passenger module has a user recognition system and ultraviolet lamps for the destruction of bacteria. At the disposal of each passenger – three displays, one of which displays personal information, the other two screens are designed for route data, entertainment content and video from external cameras.
Recall, this year Rinspeed presented at CES concept Oasis with a real flower bed. In the series that prototype is not send, the same fate, apparently, awaits and drone Snap.
