Revived Alpine could be a Mini FerrariOctober 20, 2020
This point of view is shared by the newly appointed CEO of Renault Luca De Meo. He is confident that the company should focus on sports cars and supercars.
The Alpine brand, revived a couple of years ago after a long hiatus, could become a Ferrari rival. Luca De Meo is about to turn Alpine into a sports car brand. So far, the brand only offers the A110.
Renault CEO told reporters that if they manage to combine Renault’s modern motorsport engineering technology with Alpine’s projects, they could get a “mini Ferrari.” Writes about it Autonews Europe. To catch up with the Italians, De Meo and his team will have to work hard. Today, the more powerful A110S will have to shell out about $ 80,000. The most affordable Ferrari, in turn, costs over $ 200,000.
In terms of global sales of the A110, they haven’t been particularly high since 2017.
It reached its peak only in 2019 – 4,835 cars.
Earlier, the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe, which is based on the BMW M850i GC supercar, was spotted in test trials. From BMW, the novelty should take over the power plant. The debut of the car has not yet been reported, but most likely it should take place in mid-2021.
