BMW continues to expand its line of plug-in hybrids based on the 5-Series, unveiling the BMW 545e xDrive.
The new BMW 545e xDrive is equipped with a hybrid unit consisting of a 6-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and 286 hp, as well as a synchronous 109-horsepower electric motor. Thus, the total productivity of the plant, which is combined with the 8-speed Steptronic transmission and the intelligent all-wheel drive BMW xDrive, is 394 hp. and 600 Nm of torque.
According to the German manufacturer, the 545e xDrive can accelerate to 100 km / h in 4.7 seconds at a top speed of 250 km / h. At the same time, only on electric traction, the sedan is able to accelerate to a maximum of 140 km / h and drive 54 – 57 km on a single charge. The average fuel consumption of new items is 2.1 – 2.4 liters per 100 kilometers.
The 545e xDrive also offers various riding modes. So, there is a Hybrid mode, which is standard and provides a balanced use of the internal combustion engine and the electric motor. There is also a Hybrid Eco Pro mode, which is focused on improving efficiency. In addition, there are modes such as Sport, which uses full performance, and Electric, which uses electric only. It is worth saying that, like the rest of the electrified BMW models, the 545e xDrive has a driving sound simulation function to alert pedestrians and other road users.
Currently, the cost and start date of the sale of the BMW 545e xDrive remain unknown.
