Resurrection of Isdera: the company built a new supercarApril 24, 2018
Asian investments help the German manufacturer to return to life.
About Isdera for a long time nothing was heard. It existed, but was engaged, for the most part, in the restoration of its own cars, produced earlier. In 2017, the situation for Eberhard Schultz changed dramatically – it was bought by the Sinfonia investment fund from Hong Kong. Thanks to the money of the new Asian owner, Isdera has a new headquarters in the town of Saarwellingen near the border with France, modern production facilities and equipment. So far, the company has been fulfilling orders for the Chinese WM Motor.
The Germans are developing and building electromobiles under the Weltmeister brand, with the serial crossover EX5 debuting the other day as part of the Beijing Motor Show. In parallel, work is also under way on other models, and Eberhard Schulz has prepared for the motor show the supercar Isdera.
True, if earlier part of the technical stuffing, including engines, sports cars Isdera borrowed from Mercedes-Benz, but now this is not. In addition, the new supercar brands were transferred to electric traction, and for the first time, the Isdera Commendatore GT received the layout of the salon 2 + 2.
The length of the coupe, in the exterior of which the style of the previous sports cars of the brand is not visible, is 4,920 mm, width – 1 950 mm, height – 1 290 mm and wheelbase size – 2,820 mm. True, the new Isdera has a completely original design and details.
The electric power plant Commendatore GT includes two electric motors – one on each axis – with a power of 300 kW, powered by a battery with a capacity of 105 kWh. The return of the all-wheel drive coupe is 816 hp and 1,060 Nm of torque. The power reserve for the new WLTP cycle is 500 km. Probably, in aggressive driving mode it will be much lower, however, in the fast charging mode from a special station, the battery can be filled by 80% in 35 minutes.
And now the most interesting. A car weighing 1,750 kg can accelerate to 302 km / h, but, unfortunately, the electronic limiter will not allow a speed of more than 250 km / h. From the place to the first 100 km/h the car accelerates in 3.7 seconds, and the mark of 200 km / h the arrow of the speedometer will cross 9.8 seconds after the start. Still at an electric super car expensive premium interior that was unusual for former models of a brand.
The Isdera Commendatore GT is still built in a single instance, but before the end of 2018 the company intends to build another car. About plans to produce a supercar in a serial and its estimated value so far nothing has been reported. Perhaps, information about this will appear after the public premiere in Beijing.
