Restyling of Chevrolet’s cheapest sedan: a design in the style of Cruze and an old motorSeptember 21, 2018
The photographs of the camouflaged car were made in China and published by the local edition of Bitauto. The portal claims that the paparazzi caught a restyled Chevrolet Sail sedan. The model of the current third generation debuted in 2014, in addition to the China (where production is established), it is still sold in some Latin American countries.
Judging from the frames, Sail will receive a new radiator grille in the style of a refreshed Chevrolet Cruze, other bumpers and optics. In the cabin, probably, upgraded the front panel and installed a more modern multimedia system.
According to preliminary data, the updated Chevrolet Sail will be available with the former gasoline “atmospheric” 1.5 DVVT with 113 hp (141 Nm), which works in tandem with a five-speed manual or a robotic transmission. For the pre-reform sedan there is still an atmospheric motor 1.3 VVT (103 hp, 127 Nm), but the fate of this engine is still unknown.
As previously stated in GM, the third Sail is based on a new architecture, designed for compact machines. Details of the platform the company never disclosed. Most likely, like its predecessor, the third generation sedan is based on the Gamma II platform (Chevrolet Aveo is also built on it). The length of the pre-reform Sail 3 is 4300 mm, width – 1735 mm, height – 1503 mm, wheelbase – 2500 mm.
The sedan is Chevrolet’s cheapest model in China, the price of the pre-styling version starts at a mark of 63,900 yuan. However, despite the attractive price tag, Sail occupies only the third line in the brand’s sales ranking with a result of 123,760 sold in 2017 copies. The first place at the Cavalier sedan (189,459 units, from 79,900 yuan), the second – at Malibu (124,188 pieces, from 164,900 yuan) By the way, Chevrolet’s best seller in China – Cavalier – will also be updated soon, again in the style of Cruze.
