Restyled Hyundai Solaris equipped with a new engineJuly 19, 2019
The new Hyundai Solaris now relies on a more advanced and economical engine, but there is one “but” – its power has become less.
The updated Hyundai Solaris (aka Verna / Accent) gets a new Smartstream 1.6-liter engine. It replaced the former four-cylinder GDI engine of a similar volume. The new power unit boasts an innovative design, with a number of fundamental features. Among them – a two-phase injection, a modern module that controls the temperature and accelerates the process of warming up the engine, as well as an improved ignition system. The new power unit has a positive impact on fuel consumption.
Thanks to the new technical capabilities, Accent 2020 consumes about 7.1 liters per each 100 km in the city and 5.7 liters on the highway. In the combined cycle we get 6.5 liters for every hundred kilometers. For comparison, his predecessor showed quite different numbers: 8.4 / 6.2 / 7.4 liters, respectively.
Efficiency left her mark on power. The new engine produces 120 hp and 153 Nm of torque. This is slightly lower than the previous powertrain. Recall, its power was 130 horsepower, and torque – 161 Nm.
