Renders of the revived Honda S2000 roadster publishedFebruary 20, 2021
This sports roadster lasted 10 years on the assembly line – from 1999 to 2009. Fans of the brand have repeatedly asked Honda to release a successor to the iconic sports car, but the automaker remained silent. Everything changed in the last year.
In 2020, there were rumors that Honda was going to revive the Honda S2000 roadster. What the modern sports car will look like was shown by the independent designer Behance Somak Biswas.
According to the author of the renders, the novelty will compete with the BMW Z4 and Porsche 718 Boxster. The former roadster rivaled the Mazda MX-5. The sports car could be driven by a two-liter turbo engine from the Honda Civic Type R.
From its predecessor, the novelty borrowed an elongated hood, as well as simple shapes and clean lines. At the same time, the brand’s new design philosophy, presented on the 2022 Honda Civic prototype, left its mark on the appearance of the revived roadster. The influence of Honda’s new aesthetic is noticeable in the optics, grille and front air intakes.
The renders also show the sportier S2000 Type R with a rear wing and bold skirts with red accents.
The interior of the car will house advanced multimedia, virtual dashoard, a stepped center console (its design is inspired by Japanese pagodas), a stylish sports steering wheel, etc. Whether Honda will listen to fans’ requests is unknown. However, the car on these renders would definitely adorn the brand’s lineup.
