Renault’s reshuffle in the aerodynamics departmentNovember 2, 2019
Dirk de Beer succeeded Peter Machin as head of the aerodynamics department of Renault. Before de Beer worked at BMW-Sauber, Lotus, Ferrari and Williams.
The team has a position of deputy head of the aerodynamics department. She will be occupied by a new engineer, who will join Renault next year, and for now, Vince Todd will perform these duties. James Rogers will be responsible for the aerodynamic refinement of the machines.
Cyril Abitebul, team leader: “This year we showed some strengths, but we understand that it is necessary to strengthen the team in some areas. Our department of aerodynamics is developing rapidly, we have modernized equipment, and now we are strengthening management – this will help us take advantage of the results of our investments. This is especially important when the regulations for aerodynamics for 2021 are approved, and we are preparing for a very important season in our medium-term plan. ”
Marcin Budkowski, Executive Director of Renault F1: “We are pleased to welcome Dirk as head of the aerodynamics department. He proved his skills as a technical specialist and an excellent leader – this is an ideal candidate for the post of head of such a large and complex department.
James proved that he can create fast cars, and his new position will give him the opportunity to manage the aerodynamic refinement of our future cars.
These changes are a new stage in the restructuring of the chassis department of the Renault F1 Team in Enstone, which will allow us to reduce the gap between the leaders. ”
