Renault sold a record number of electric cars in 2019January 20, 2020
Dealers of the French brand all over the world handed over more than 62 thousand electric cars to their customers – more than ever.
It is currently difficult to challenge Tesla’s leadership in the environmentally friendly machinery market. However, other automakers are not going to give up without a fight. So, in 2019, the Renault brand sold 62,447 electric vehicles worldwide, showing the best result for itself. For comparison, in 2018 the dealers of the French company managed to add 49,300 such cars, and in 2017 – 36,300
The biggest sales can boast an electric car Renault ZOE (48,269 deals in the 2019th). This electric hatchback, which entered the market in 2012, is considered one of the most popular electric cars in Europe.
The second most popular electric car from Renault is the electric Kangoo Z.E. (10,349 copies sold). The third with the result of 2,658 units is the budget electric car Renault City K-ZE, which the brand offered to Chinese motorists.
Complete the list of the most popular electric cars Renault electric van Master Z.E (296 buyers) and electric sedan SM3 Z.E from Renault Samsung Motors (875 cars). When calculating the experts did not take into account the sales of Renault Twizy, since in some markets this double citycar is referred to as ATVs.
The growth of sales, the executive vice-president of Renault Groupe for sales and regions, Olivier Murge, linked with the success of new models in the main markets of the group – Europe and India. In 2020, electric and hybrid innovations will help to strengthen its influence in the niche of electrified cars. Among them are New Zoe and Twingo Z.E.
