2018 – Renault ZOE

An electric compact of the second generation will receive a new power plant and an autopilot.

The Renault Zoe electric car will be launched in the second quarter of next year. Like the current hatch, the second-generation model will be produced in French Flea (there they also collect Renault Clio and Nissan Micra). The public premiere of the novelty could take place in the autumn of 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and the electric car will be launched by the end of the same year, L’argus reports.

According to the portal, the basis of the next Zoe will be the CMF-EV platform of the Remault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, designed specifically for electric cars. The current compact is built on the same platform as the Renault Clio. Also, Zoe will receive a new electric motor and battery, details of which have not yet been disclosed.

In addition, the model will be equipped with an autopilot of the so-called second level: the electronics control acceleration, braking and taxiing, but the driver will have to react if the system could not cope on his own. A similar system – ProPilot – today is in the arsenal of some Nissan models: for example, the updated crossover Qashqai, the minivan Serena and the electric hat Leaf.

Hatch Renault Zoe first generation debuted in 2012. In 2015, the model took the title of the most popular European electric car from Nissan Leaf (18,469 Renault hatchbacks against 15,303 Nissan cars), which Zoe retained for the next two years. However, after entering the Leaf market of a new generation, the compact Renault fell to the second line: according to the results of January-May 2018 in the Europe, about 13,500 Zoe cars were sold, while the Japanese gained over 14,000 owners during the same period.

The current Renault electric hatch is offered in France in three versions: R90, R110 and Q90. The first is equipped with an electric motor with a power of 92 hp. (220 Nm), the return of the second option – 108 hp (225 Nm), the third – 88 hp (220 Nm). In all versions the hatchback is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 41 kWh, the claimed power reserve is 300 km (on the WLTP cycle).

In the homeland of the hatch mark Zoe costs from 23,200 euros (excluding eco-bonuses).
