Renault Megane RS Trophy-R has become the fastest Nürburgring carJuly 7, 2019
The company told about the dynamic characteristics of the new record holder, and also plans to release its road version at the end of the summer. The series will be released in limited edition.
Previously, the title of the fastest car “North Loop” belonged to the Honda Civic Type R, driving a 20.6-kilometer route in 7 minutes 43.8 seconds. The new record set a hot hatch Renault Megane RS Trophy-R, reducing the time by 3.7 seconds. To achieve this result, the company has made major improvements in the model.
The track version is equipped with a basic 1.8-liter turbo engine of 300 hp and 400 Nm. The engineers of the sports division of the company focused on weight reduction and aerodynamics, as well as the chassis.
Thus, the hatchback got rid of 138 kg, in particular thanks to the carbon fiber 19-inch Fuji Light wheels and the absence of the rear row of seats, and got a solid carbon fiber diffuser at the rear (additional downforce).
Renault plans to release a model in the amount of 500 copies and make 30 of them right-hand drive for the British market. The cost of new items will be announced closer to August, then it will be available for order.
Previously, the Web has a new information about the subcompact crossover Renault HBC. The premiere of “baby” will be held next year.
