Renault Kwid changed his image, trying to return buyers. The filling was not touchedSeptember 23, 2019
The web has photos of a restyled hatchback Kwid, intended for the Indian market. The model has changed the exterior design, the engines are the same.
The “raised” hatch Renault Kwid debuted in 2015. The model is built on the CMF-A platform of the then Renault-Nissan alliance (Mitsubishi joined the alliance later, she did not participate in the development of the platform), India became the first market for it, local-made cars are available there. At first, Kwid was in frenzied demand among Indian buyers, and lines lined up for him. But then interest in the hatch began to fade.
The local Renault made the first attempt to revive Quid’s sales last summer – the model was slightly tweaked. That restyling did not really help: in 2018, 66,815 cars were transferred to customers, which is 28% less than a year earlier. In February 2019, the Indian Kwid was upgraded for the second time, making it safer. But the hatch is still in the red. And now for the premiere is ready for the third time an updated “state employee”, now with significant changes in appearance. Photos of the car without camouflage are published on Facebook on the AutoPunditz page.
As expected, Quid’s design was made in the style available so far only in China, the electroversion, which received its own name K-ZE. The Indian hatchback acquired the same two-tier head optics (on top – LED DRLs, under them – the main blocks of headlights), bumpers and taillights. But the Indian radiator grill has its own. In the pictures we see Kwid in a special version of Climber, its features are bumper pads with orange accents and exterior mirrors made in the same color.
There are no photos of the interior of the restyled Indian Quid. Most likely, a new multimedia system appeared with an enlarged touch screen, a different steering wheel and a dashborad from the Renault Triber soplatform compact van.
But the hatch’s engines, according to preliminary data, are the same: in India, the model is equipped with petrol three-cylinder aspirated 0.8 SCe and 1.0 SCe with 54 and 68 hp. respectively. Both engines are paired with a five-speed manual transmission, for a liter still provides a robotic transmission. Drive – front only.
The premiere of the transformed Renault Kwid will be held in India in the near future. Renault will probably not push up the model much. The pre-reform hatch there costs from 276,000 rupees. After the restyled hatchback has mastered the Indian market, it should reach South Africa and the countries of South America. In China, they do not plan to sell gas hatch – only the “green” option.
