Renault is preparing to present a cheap electric car City K-ZEApril 9, 2019
A week later, in the framework of the Shanghai Automobile Salon, a new model of electric vehicle will be presented. The car is built on the basis of a compact and cheap platform, and can be a “breakthrough” in this segment.
In 2018, Renault presented its concept of a cheap electric vehicle at the Paris Motor Show. Then the prototype K-ZE was demonstrated. Its serial version of the Renault City K-ZE will be presented on April 16 in Shanghai. While official information about the future model is very small, however, the ubiquitous spies and most auto-experts can already tell some details.
Thus, the electric car will be built on the basis of the cheapest car in the line of the brand – Renault Kwid, although the company persistently keeps silent about this fact. In Paris, the concept was presented, with a more vivid design and slightly modified body. The interior was not shown then, but the photospies were able to take photographs of the interior, where the version of the turned-up Quida was fully confirmed.
As a power unit, a fully electric unit will be used, capable of providing up to 250 km of run according to the NEDC version, that is, in real life it will be approximately half as much. Power will be about 70 horsepower.
Nevertheless, it will be a worthy model if the concern can keep the promised value of $ 7,000-8,000.
Meanwhile, sales of the budget compact van Renault Triber will begin in July. As stated in the press service of the French company, the cost of new items in India will be Rs 550,000.
