Renault has officially unveiled the all-new Renault KigerJanuary 28, 2021
Renault has revealed details of its all-new compact crossover, the Renault Kiger.
Renault is expanding its international lineup with the Kiger, the first compact crossover to go on sale in India. The Kiger is the production version of the Kiger Concept introduced last November. As expected, Renault stays true to the design of this concept car.
Kiger is assembled on the modular platform CMF-A of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. This platform is already being used in models such as the Kwid and Triber, another Renault that is not sold in Europe. The length of the model is 3.99 meters, which is especially interesting for the Indian market. Cars shorter than four meters are subject to lower taxes in India than larger cars. The wheelbase of the Kiger is 2.5 meters. In the appearance of the Kiger, we can see the influence of the design of both the Kwid and the Captur, which is well known here. The luggage compartment volume is 405 liters, which, of course, is quite a lot for a car of this size. If you fold down the rear seat, you can hold 879 liters. LED headlights and LED daytime running lights are available depending on the version chosen.
The interior of the Renault Kiger certainly looks good for a car in this class. The Kiger will have an 8-inch large display belonging to the infotainment system. Behind the wheel is a large 7-inch digital gauge. Renault’s engine list includes a 1.0-liter three-cylinder supercharged unit with 100 hp. and 160 Nm, and the 72 hp engine will remain the base. and 96 Nm naturally aspirated. Six airbags come as standard and this is certainly not a matter of course in India.
Renault says it will later sell the Kiger outside of India.
