Renault Duater became the new PapamobileNovember 27, 2019
The budget SUV has been adapted to meet the needs of the pope by the Dacia prototype department and the special needs team in partnership with Romanian bodybuilder Romturingia.
The new Popemobile offers the same five-seat layout as the standard Duster, but has a “particularly comfortable” rear bench, added for lengthy public parades.
There is also a large sunroof, roof mounted handles for grabbing and, as is customary in Popemobiles of all brands, a removable transparent display window so that viewers can better look at His Holiness. The Duster is made in white with leather trim and its suspension has been reduced by 30 mm to facilitate entry and exit.
He was brought to the Vatican by Christoph Dridi, Managing Director of Groupe Renault Romania, and Xavier Martine, General Manager of Groupe Renault Italy. Duster will not be the first experience of the Pope in Dacia during a visit to Armenia in 2016, he used the unchanged example of the Logan salon as an official transport. He promotes frugality and modesty, while his predecessors drove a variety of premium cars, including Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover.
In 2017, Lamborghini gave Pope Francis Huracan specially painted in the official colors of the Vatican. After he blessed and autographed the car, it was sold at a charity auction for £ 630,000.
