Renault completes Koleos shipments to the UKJuly 3, 2020
Despite the booming sales of crossovers and SUVs, Renault decided to launch its mid-size Koleos crossover from the UK.
The mid-size model, based on the same platform as the Nissan X-Trail – Rogue, remains on sale on the official website, but the production of right-hand drive options will be discontinued at the end of July. According to the press service of Renault, such a decision was made “for commercial reasons that are consistent with the policy of Renault UK to offer the most suitable cars in the UK market for customers.”
At first glance, this is due to poor sales performance, since last year only 1,007 Koleos SUVs were registered in the country. In 2019, 12,371 copies were sold throughout Europe, 18,999 copies in 2018, and 13,232 Koleos in 2017.
Introduced at the Beijing Motor Show in 2016, the second-generation Koleos competes with cars like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Volkswagen Tiguan. In the company’s lineup, it is above Kadjar, which is an updated version of the Nissan / Rogue Sport, and is offered with gasoline and diesel engines.
Renault’s large-scale restructuring plan may affect not only Koleos, but also other models of the French brand, including the popular Megane hatchback, mid-size Talisman, as well as Espace and Scenic minivans.
