Renault announced the debut of two new productsOctober 13, 2020
The French automaker has released two fresh video teasers of electric vehicles to be unveiled on the first day of the Renault eWays EV Forum on October 15th.
The main novelty from Renault will be a show car announcing Renault’s upcoming electric hatchback based on an all-new modular CMF-EV platform designed for environmentally friendly cars. This is the same platform that underlies the all-new Nissan Ariya, so we can assume this concept is a pre-production version of the Renault Ariya.
If so, then we may have a further development of the Morphoz concept, unveiled in March, especially since the automaker called it an electric hatchback. However, some company documents claim that the new product will be a crossover, which will be smaller than the Captur.
In any case, the short video teaser does not reveal the design of the new item; all we can see is the design of the lighting fixtures, consisting of a light strip connecting the headlights and an illuminated Renault logo. We can also see animations that can show the state of the car. The previous teaser image also featured boomerang-shaped headlights.
The premiere of Dacia, which we all know is a production version of the Spring electric concept car, is much less shrouded in mystery. Essentially a revamped and renamed iteration of China’s Renault City K-ZE, the Dacia Spring promises to make electric mobility accessible to everyone and is expected to offer a range of over 200km. Renault also says the Dacia Spring will go on sale in the first half of 2021 as the most affordable EV in Europe.
Both fully electric models will be showcased at Renault eWays by Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo. The debuts will be broadcast live.
