Recall 1500 motorcycles Ducati SupersportNovember 23, 2018
More than 1500 Ducati Supersport motorcycles came under review due to highly vibrating rear-view mirrors.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the agency of the executive department of the United States – the US Department of Transportation, announced the relevant recall. The review covers 1,676 motorcycles of the above-mentioned model 2017, 2018 and 2019 model years. Moreover, in addition to the standard model, motorcycles of the “Supersport S” model also came under review.
According to the review, with a certain combination of motorcycle speed, engine speed, and the selected gear, the mirrors can vibrate so that the visibility of the reflection can be distorted.
For the first time, the problem was talked about in September 2018, during the testing of motorcycles by the North American division of Ducati. The current review was announced on November 9th.
Ducati dealers will install recycled mirrors on all recalled motorcycles. New mirrors will receive a plate which will strengthen an internal design and will prevent vibrations. Nevertheless, the Network is discussing that the “medicine” for mirrors will appear at dealers no earlier than February.
