Rebellion-Williams and Porsche win Le Mans virtual 24 hoursJune 16, 2020
Pilots of the joint cyber team Rebellion and Williams Luis Deletraz, Rafael Marcello, Nicodem Wisniewski and Cuba Brzezinski won the 24-hour Le Mans virtual 24-hour marathon in the first story.
Crew # 1 led the race after the technical problems of the leaders Max Verstappen and Lando Norris in the middle of the race. And for the rest of the race they confidently controlled the situation, losing leadership only temporarily to pit stops.
But the struggle for second place lasted almost until the end of the marathon. This battle unfolded between the second crew of Rebellion-Williams, led by Bruna Senna and ByKolles with Tom Dillman. Second place went to ByKolles racers, so Rebellion-Williams was left without a double.
In the GTE body class, the drivers of the Porsche factory team led by the 2015 Le Mans triumph Nick Tandy won. The second with a lag behind finished the Aston Martin crew, for which the experienced WEC racer Marco Sorensen spoke. The third place was taken by the crew of Romain Grosjean.
Charles Lecler and Antonio Giovinazzi, who played for the AF Corse team in the GTE, after technical problems finished in last place in the overall standings. Fernando Alonso and Rubens Barrichello returned to the track a few hours after the descent and took 17th place.
The real 24 hours of Le Mans are scheduled for September 19-20.
