A rare copy of the Lamborghini LM002 is sold at RM Sotheby’s auction. SUV is worth 375,000 dollars

Lamborghini LM002 is the first serial SUV of the Italian brand. It was first presented at the Brussels Motor Show in 1986. The batch production lasted from 1986 to 1993, 328 copies were produced.

Specifically, this car was delivered on March 28, 1988 by Chrysler Italian Imports from New Jersey, and its odometer currently shows 54,000 km. Although little information was provided about the former owners of the car, one can imagine that there were cool guys behind the wheel of this “beast”.

Probably it is hard to believe, but the cars of the Italian Lamborghini were far from the most reliable in the 1980s. It is reported that this copy of the SUV has undergone a full restoration procedure. The auction organizers of RM Sotheby’s report that the Lamborghini LM002 power unit was rebuilt with the help of a new Kevlar clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, release bearing, clutch master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder. In addition, there are recovered parts – a carburetor, a new distributor, exhaust system, spark plugs, air filters, a battery and new fluids.

All work cost $ 45,000. The LM002 received rare Pirelli Scorpion tires. The interior has also been updated.

Unlike the modern Lamborghini Urus crossover, which uses a relatively soft (but still powerful) Twin-Turbo V8 engine from the VW Group, the LM002 uses the same naturally aspirated V12, making it one of the craziest SUVs in history.
