Rare RUF CTR3 sports car for sale at auctionNovember 9, 2020
At the auction, there was an announcement for the sale of a rather rare sports car RUF CTR3, which is built on the basis of a 996 generation Porsche 911. In total, 31 copies of this truly crazy car were produced.
RUF is a German tuning company that produces its own versions of the Porsche 911 sports coupe. RUF became famous thanks to the legendary Porsche 911 Yellow Bird, which showed top speed during tests at the Nurburgring in the last century. A more modern creation by the guys from the RUF studio is the equally crazy RUF GTR3, which, according to company representatives, takes Porsche tuning to a new level.
The RUF CTR3 is a departure from the usual RUF manufacturing formula, which uses a white Porsche body to create its version of the iconic sports car.
Instead of optimizing the Porsche chassis, the RUF CTR3 uses a dedicated platform created in collaboration with the Canadian team Multimatic. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because the guys at Multimatic have introduced us to modern race cars such as the new Ford GT and its version that is allowed on public roads.
In the RUF CTR3, the custom chassis is paired with a 3.8-liter 6-cylinder engine from Porsche, now equipped with a pair of turbochargers. The result is a 682 horsepower 6-cylinder engine that mates with the 6-speed sequential automatic manual transmission that was advanced in 2009. This supercar weighs less than 1,360 kg. may have a front end reminiscent of the 996 generation 911, but it looks swift, its windshield is worth noting separately.
Only 31 examples of the RUF CTR3 were built, making it a rare Porsche collector’s car that is sure to attract attention and deliver impressive dynamic performance both on the road and on the track. The price of the car sold is not known at the time of this writing.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the Ruf Rodeo Concept or the off-road version of the sporty Porsche 911. Atelier Ruf published images of the off-road performance of the German coupe Porsche 911, the novelty received the designation Rodeo Concept. The price of the car, which is intended for off-road racing, has not yet been announced.
