Rare concept racing Ferrari 275 GTB put up for auctionJanuary 2, 2019
The unique racing Ferrari 275 GTB, which came off the assembly line 54 years ago, is going to be sold at the Scottsdale auction by the company Gooding & Company.
Supercar under the name 275 GTB to participate in the race was designed back in 1964 as a follower of the model 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, first designed on the pilot platform 06003.
At the very first assembly, the sports car received from its creators one of the early Tipo 213 power units and became famous for the short head part of the car. When upgrading the resulting instance, the concern regularly improved and reworked the body for various racing events, making it much longer.
A year after the release of the first instance, the top manager of the Italian brand Eugenio Dragoni and the managing director of the concern Hugo Gobbato made a bold choice in favor of testing the 275 GTB in rally races in order to obtain data on its gearbox and independent rear suspension.
The supercar was equipped with additional optics, reinforced glass, differential lock, an improved hood and Dunlop tires. Thanks to the strength of the pilot of the Italian auto giant Roberto Lippi and athlete Giorgio Pyant, the prototype version under the symbol 06003 was tested at a distance of 12 thousand kilometers in rally conditions.
In 1966, a sports car participated in a rally race in Monte Carlo. However, problems with the transmission forced the concern’s management to bury this idea. Since that time, this car passed into the possession of a number of motorists who collect unique cars, and then in 1977 was brought to the United States to the new owner Henry Fuchs. It is worth noting that the sports car did not participate in any bid for 25 years. This is despite the fact that it is considered the exclusive copy of the 275 GTB. For a race car going to get from 6 to 8 million dollars. Analysts believe that this is a small amount for such a unique hypercar. It is possible that the price tag may change and request much more.
We also recall that at the end of last year, the team of the Italian concern for the second year in a row awarded the Golden Tapir with an anti-prize for the failed season.
