Rare Chevy Corvette Pace Car Edition is up for auctionOctober 6, 2020
A rather rare version of the Chevy Corvette sports coupe will be sold at overseas auction – the performance created as part of the Indy 500 race is called the Pace Car Edition. The odometer of a 1995 car shows a mileage of 19,679 km.
In 1995, Chevrolet sold the fourth generation of its iconic Corvette car. This was the time the Corvette had been on the market for 11 years. In addition, an exclusive version of the Corvette Pace Car was launched this year.
It was created part of the second time the Corvette raced the Indy 500 as a pace car (the car that leads the race in warm-up laps – editor’s note).
Chevy has assembled 527 of the original pace car.
All examples of the then novelty were convertibles with an automatic transmission, decorated in a purple and white Corvette Pace Car color scheme. One of them will be sold at the Mecum auction in Dallas (USA), scheduled for October 15-17 this year. It has just 19,679.06 km on the odometer and looks like new.
According to the seller’s description, the car has some nice features that were available for the Corvette at the time. These include air conditioning, Bose audio system, five-spoke wheels, power steering and disc brakes. Under the hood is a 5.7-liter V8 engine that is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
According to the same CorvetteBlogger, the starting price for this car will hardly be less than $ 30,000.
Not so long ago, we wrote that a rare 1998 Lamborghini Diablo SV was put up for auction. This model is considered to be one of the best supercars of the Italian automaker. One such copy was put up for auction organized by Bring A Trailer.
