For Aston Martin V580 BBS1985 coupe asks for almost £ 260,000

UK dealer Dylan Miles has put up for sale an Aston Martin V8 in a rare specification V580 BBS. A total of 94 of these cars were built, which differ in external design and BBS wheels eight inches wide (approximately 20 centimeters). The vintage coupe is priced at £ 259,950.

Under the hood of the Aston 580-series is a 5.3-liter V8, developing 375 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed ZF manual gearbox, which transfers power to the rear wheels. According to the passport, the coupe accelerates to one hundred in 5.5 seconds, and its maximum speed is 270 kilometers per hour. There are no differences in technology from other modifications, but visually the V580 BBS is still a little different.

The reason is in the wheels. Pirelli, which supplied Aston with tires in the 1980s, was experiencing quality problems, so the British were forced to change the tire model, which severely affected handling. To solve the problem, it was urgently necessary to select new, wider discs and reshape the arches for them. As a result, in 1983, the BBS version of the V580 was born, which sold only 94 copies.

The car for sale has changed several owners and is now located in England. The body of the coupe is painted in Warwick Blue, combined with dark red leather upholstery. In addition to the machine, the seller gives the original set of tools and a jack. Bonuses also include a Nardi wood-rimmed wheel and brand new Ronal alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin tires.

In 2018, the auction house Sotheby’s sold a similar Aston Martin V8 Vantage V580 to Oscar India for 275,000 euros.
