Rare 1957 Ford Thunderbird to be auctionedOctober 2, 2020
Auction house Mecum will be auctioning a rare 1957 Ford Thunderbird this month.
As follows from the description to the announcement, the rarity of this car lies in the presence of “mechanics”, since in 1957 less than 2% Thunderbird with this type of transmission was produced from the total circulation of the model that year. It is noted that the car has undergone restoration, due to which it looks like new. In turn, the body of the car was repainted in a blue shade called Azure Blue, which is traditional for the 1958 Thunderbird model.
The car has a dark blue soft top, which has been restored to excellent condition, and wide wheels with BF Goodrich Silvertown tires. As you can see, Thunderbird’s exterior uses exclusively blue in various tones and the interior is no exception, it is also made in a similar shade. Although there are no detailed pictures of the interior, you can note that there is an air conditioner and an old-style radio.
As for the Thunderbird powertrain, it underwent refinement and received two carburetors. Engine performance is 270 hp. Together with the motor, a 3-speed manual transmission Borg Warner T85 functions.
Talking about the estimated cost of the 1957 Thunderbird, the auction house did not disclose it.
In addition, it was recently noted that the 1991 Ford Bronco, from which the factory film was not removed, was put up for sale. It should be emphasized that this car of the American automaker was bought new at a dealership in Chicago.
