Unique 1911 Pierce Arrow Four recently sold for $ 225,000

A total of 500 units were released. bike, but earlier versions lacked clutch and gearbox. Models that have been produced since 1910 were equipped with a 2-speed transmission, due to which they were able to accelerate to almost 100 km / h with a mass of 125 kg.

The founder of the company, George N. Pierce, had a son named Percival, who went to Europe at one time and fell in love there with the Belgian FN bike. Of course, he brought it to the United States.

In 1909, Pierce Motorcycle Company installed a motor, a fork, and an FN shaft drive system on its chassis. Thanks to the 9cm thick pipes for the frame, Pierce was able to hide the fuel and oil tanks, as well as all the wires and cables inside the frame. At the same time, the motor itself did not exactly repeat the FN. Its volume reached 707 cubic cm. In fact, the experts used FN’s developments as a springboard to develop their motorcycle.

It should be emphasized that the bike sold for that kind of money has not yet been fully restored and is still covered in original paint.

In addition, it was recently noted that the Bimota Tesi H2 motorcycle is going into production. Initially, the start of production of the model was scheduled for this summer, but due to the pandemic it was postponed. Recall that this bike first debuted back in November 2019 at the EICMA show in Italy.
