The charged version of the SUV broke the record of the Italian supercar on the mountain serpentine.
The British SUV Range Rover Sport SVR on the mountain road to Mount Tianmen in China demonstrated time better than the Ferrari 458 Italia supercar earlier. The video of the record-breaking race is posted on the official video channel Land Rover on YouTube.
The crossover was piloted by the Chinese racer Ho Ping Tong, who won the “24 Hours of Le Mans” in the LMP2 category in 2017. He reached the top, breaking 11.3 kilometers of serpentine and 99 turns, which took the driver 9 minutes 51 seconds, while the Ferrari 458 Italia took 10 minutes 31 seconds for this exercise.
Under the hood of the Range Rover Sport SVR is an inflatable five-liter V8 engine (AJ133), the output of which is 575 hp. and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is combined with an eight-band automatic gearbox and accelerates the car from its place to the first “hundred” in 4.5 seconds and to a top speed of 283 km/h.
Recall, the Ferrari 458 Italia is equipped with a V8 Ferrari/Maserati F136 with capacity of 4.5 liters, developing 570 hp at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, although 80% of the thrust is already available at 3,250 rpm. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes 2.9-3.0 seconds, the maximum speed is 340 km/h, according to the manufacturer.
The model is quite popular in the European market, for example, last year it sold 26,052 units.
Earlier, we talked about the hybrid Range Rover Sport, which with the same pilot drove up the stairs to Tianmen Mountain, which consists of 999 steps.
