Rally car Lancia Stratos will be rebuilt as a 550-hp coupeFebruary 10, 2018
The Italian workshop Maniffatura Automobili Torino (MAT) in cooperation with the firm New Stratos Gbr announced the restart of the project for the release of the modern version of the famous rally car Lancia Stratos. The premiere of the novelty will be held in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
While the current Stratos only know that it will be a coupe with an engine capacity of over 550 horsepower, which can work in tandem with an automatic transmission. The developers also noted that the platform will create a racing GT-modification, all-terrain version of Safari, and a “supercar for every day.” The circulation of novelties will be limited to 25 copies, each of which will cost at least 835 thousand dollars.
The first prototype of the revived Lancia Stratos, presented in 2010, was created at the expense of the German businessman Michael Stoschek. The project also involved the Italian body atelier Pininfarina.
Stratos built on the basis of the Ferrari F430 Scuderia and equipped with a 4.3-liter eight-cylinder unit, the return of which increased from 510 to 540 forces. The coupe could accelerate from its place to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds.
At the supercar, the then-headed Ferrari coach Luca di Montezemolo took a ride and highly appreciated the driving and dynamic qualities of cars. In this case, the Ferrari itself banned the launch of the modern Stratos, created on the basis of the F430.
