Raikkonen: I am closer to the end of a career than to its beginningMarch 11, 2019
Before the start of the new season, which for Kimi Raikkonen will already be the 17th in Formula 1, the Finnish Alfa Romeo driver is in a good mood, and he enjoys working in a team from Hinwil, also because its base is only 50 km from his home.
“Fortunately, now I work not so far from home, and it simplifies a lot,” said Kimi. – It is always difficult when you are away from family and children, but there’s nothing you can do – probably, we are all in a similar situation. I spend one week at the races, but next week at home. For us, this is normal, besides, I’m not going to compete in races forever. In the future, I will have the opportunity to devote more time to my family.
How much longer am I going to perform? I do not know, but you can say that I am closer to the end of a career than to its beginning. Although I do not know when it will end.
As a child I was interested in motocross – even before I started racing. I always liked motocross, I wanted to become a motorcycle racer, but I chose a different path, and it was not the stupidest decision. But for several years now I have my own team, which is participating in the world motocross championship, it enjoys factory support from the company Husqvarna, and it’s great. I still love this sport, but I can’t spend too much time on it. ”
Since Kimi posted photos and videos on social networks about how the four-year-old Robin Raikkonen masters a small cross-country motorcycle, the driver was asked how he sees his son’s future?
“It’s not up to me,” he replied. “I just hope he chooses what he really likes.” It doesn’t matter if it will be hockey, football or something else. You know, everything is interesting for children. But I would like him to really get into something. And my wife and I will do our best to help our children. ”
