Racing Point Satisfied With New ProductsSeptember 1, 2019
The best of the Racing Point racers in the second training session of the Belgian Grand Prix was Sergio Perez, who showed the fifth time, losing less than a second to the leader. His partner Lance Stroll completed the training with the eighth result. The day the team was overshadowed by a problem with the power plant on the Perez machine at the end of the session, but at Racing Point they were pleased with the news.
Sergio Perez (5th): “We are still investigating the causes of what happened in the second training, it seems that a drop in oil pressure led to engine failure. Fortunately, this will not have a big impact on further work during the weekend, but you need to see if the car has received other damage.
Up to these problems, everything went well. The car was fast in both sessions, and the new products that we brought immediately gave the desired effect. There are many areas that need to be added before Saturday, but I am positive. ”
Lance Stroll (8th): “This is one of the best Fridays of the season, expectations are quite optimistic. On a long series of circles, the car looks pretty good, but this is what we expected in the Spa. During training, the seat in the car became very hot, but in the evening we will figure it out.
It is a pity that I will receive a fine for replacing the engine, but nothing can be done. In the qualification we will do everything possible, but the main attention is to prepare for the race in order to overtake as many cars as possible and earn points. I look forward to it and I’m sure that we will have a good weekend. ”
Otmar Safnauer, Team Leader: “It’s not an easy day, given some of the problems that prevented Lance in both sessions. I had to interrupt a series of circles due to problems with the sensor, and then the seat overheated.
At the end of the second session, Sergio had to stop the car. We are trying to figure out what exactly happened, but the engine turned off after a drop in oil pressure. Both riders were quite happy with the balance, and the prepared new items allowed to add. ”
