Published prices for the new Audi RS Q8November 27, 2019
The German automaker has published a price list for its top model – the “charged” crossover Audi Q8 RS.
Recall that Audi had two world premieres at the main auto show in California. One of them is the new Audi RS Q8, which is an SUV with a 4.0-liter V8 TFSI with two turbines with cylinder shut-off technology and a soft hybrid drive based on a 48-volt starter generator. The total power of the power plant is 600 hp. power and 800 Nm of torque.
The driver can influence the sound of the engine using the Audi drive select system. An optional RS sport exhaust system with black tailpipes provides an even sportier sound.
Its soft hybrid system (MHEV) is based on a 48-volt main electrical system. The heart of the MHEV is an alternating current starter alternator connected to the crankshaft. During braking, it can restore power up to 12 kW of energy and store it in a compact lithium-ion battery. If the driver takes his foot off the gas pedal at high speeds in the range from 55 to 160 km / h, the drive control system chooses one of two solutions, depending on the situation and the current setting of the Audi drive select dynamic control system: the new RS Q8 restores power reserve or accelerates to 40 seconds with the engine turned off. The starter of the belt generator starts the engine within a fraction of a second after pressing the “gas”. MHEV technology allows you to start / stop the power plant at speeds up to 22 km / h. A soft hybrid system is connected to sensors and cameras for even greater efficiency: when stopped, the engine starts when the brake pedal is still pressed, as soon as the front camera detects that the one in front starts to move.
The interplay of MHEV components improves ride comfort and also has the potential to reduce fuel consumption in everyday driving by as much as 0.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
The Audi SUV is equipped with air suspension and anti-roll bars from the SQ8, released earlier this year with a diesel engine in Europe. Wheels up to 23 inches in size will be available with 295/35 ZR23 Pirelli P Zero tires, as well as a rear differential with vector torque and full control.
Audi Sport will equip the RS Q8 with a reinforced suspension to make it more maneuverable when cornering.
Inside, the driver’s display has several RS-specific screens and several other pleasant little things designed for convenience. As Audi confirms the November debut for the RS Q8, we can see the fastest SUV ever made by the company at the Los Angeles Auto Show this afternoon.
In the brand’s homeland – in Germany – and in several other European countries, model sales will start in the first quarter of 2020. Today, the prices for the new product were published. So, a sports SUV can be ordered from German dealers of the brand for 127 thousand euros
