Published details of the updated Opel CorsaApril 15, 2019
It is known that the long-awaited German novelty will weigh 108 kilograms less than the current version of the car. Expect that the new Corsa will be presented at the September Frankfurt Motor Show, unless Opel plans to show its B-segment hatchback online a few weeks before the main debut.
Despite its age, the German car Opel Corsa took the 10th place in the ranking of the best-selling cars in Europe last year. A brand new version of this model is just around the corner, and it must compete more strongly with its main rivals, such as the next generation Renault Clio and Peugeot 208. Today, the Opel brand Ops service has published some technical details about the new (sixth) generation of the 5-door model.
The new Corsa F will lose up to 10% of the total weight, totaling just 980 kilograms for the 5-door model in its lightest form.
It is reported that the novelty will have a length of 4.06 meters. All this will be possible if you switch to a completely new platform developed by the French concern PSA, the “multi-energy platform” on which the aforementioned Peugeot 208 is built. In many ways, like the French kid, the new Corsa will also be offered in pure electric mode – such a car will get eCorsa name.
It is known that all engines for the German novelty will be made of aluminum (-15 kg), as well as the hood (-2.4 kg). Optimized seats (-5.5 kg at the front and -4.5 kg at the rear) contribute to this significant weight loss, while the insulation material used throughout the cabin is also a new development that contributes to weight loss. Well, the platform itself will be lighter than the “old” 40 kg.
