The French PSA group, which owns the brands Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel and Vauxhall, has created a new division. It will deal with the development of electrical and electrified models.

The department began working on April 1, and the first fruits of its work will be presented as early as 2019. By 2025, the PSA expects to use the development units on all models belonging to a group of companies.

No additional details about the division in the PSA were not given. The company noted only that it will be engaged in the creation of not only products, but also services for owners of electric cars.

Earlier it was reported that the PSA group is going to significantly reduce the number of platforms used by 2024. Now for all models, including Opel and Vauxhall, nine chassis are used. In six years their number should be reduced to two. In addition, in the lines of German and British brands will be more electric vehicles and hybrids. In particular, the hatchback Corsa of the new generation will be transferred to electric traction.
