Prototypes of the charged VW Tiguan R crossover and Arteon R liftback are seenApril 30, 2020
The published video captures a prototype of the powerful performance of the VW Tiguan R crossover and the stylish Arteon R. liftback. The presentation of new products is scheduled for this year.
The prototypes of the Tiguan R crossover and the stylish Arteon R liftback were seen this week on the Nurburgring racetrack – brand engineers bring the finishing touches to these cars. The video we published is mainly about the Tiguan R crossover, as the Arteon R only appears for a few seconds. Both cars did not receive a single gram of camouflage, apparently because the prototypes probably did not have all the serial body panels, that is, there was nothing to hide.
Knowing VW and how it develops its sports cars, it can be assumed that the high-performance Tiguan R and Arteon R will have only minor exterior changes.
The real changes will be in hardware, as faster models should get powerful brakes, a sport suspension and an optimized chassis. Needless to say, the biggest changes will be hidden under the hood – it is expected that new items should offer more than 300 horsepower.
Most likely, both Tiguan R and Arteon R will receive engines produced by VW – earlier there were rumors that they will be equipped with motors from Audi. It may well be that the choice of brand engineers will “fall” on the newly developed turbo-charged VR6 engine with a capacity of about 400 hp.
Martin Hube, a VW spokesman for medium and large models, said the Arteon with a VR6 engine will make this car more powerful than the Porsche Panamera. Both high-performance new products are expected to debut this year. Both models should also receive a plug-in hybrid powerplant – such versions of new products will receive the GTE prefix to the name.
