Presented render of Sony Vision-S in the back of a coupeJanuary 26, 2020
The Sony Vision-S concept car came as a surprise to SEMA during a consumer technology show. The company had nothing to do with cars – unless you are considering these races in your console games.
A high-tech four-door sedan can get around other cars offered today in this segment, which tells us that the company has a future when it comes to automotive design.
So, Aksyonov Nikita from Behance presented his vision of a coupe-car. The renderer, called the Vision Coupe, demonstrates what Sony could show on the SEMA instead of the silver EV sedan – and it doesn’t look so bad. In fact, it looks even better with a single door and a smooth roof line. The color of gold paint gives the EV a more special character, so you can forget that the concept has 33 sensors for detecting people and objects outside and inside the car.
Unfortunately, the Sony concept car will not be able to make this a reality, be it a sedan or a coupe. As Vision-S project manager Izumi Kavanishi, who also heads the Sony robotics division, confirmed, the company is not going to become a car manufacturer. The concept is “Sony’s contribution to the evolution of machines,” which is a disappointment because, frankly, people need more of these beautiful examples when the world progresses in electrification.
